Jennifer Lawrence returns to her independent roots with ‘Causeway’ after her hiatus

LONDON, UK – Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence plays a soldier with PTSD and ex-traumatic stress in the bridgean independent drama that also marks the Hollywood star’s debut as a producer.

The film sees Lawrence’s character, Lynsey, returning from Afghanistan with a debilitating brain injury that has been attacked. After reluctantly returning to her hometown and her mother’s home to recover, she befriends a local auto mechanic (played by Brian Terry Henry) and finds comfort and healing in unexpected friendship.

Directed by Lila Neugebauer, the film was shot before the COVID-19 pandemic and put an end to Lawrence’s short break from acting.

“I started the movie when I was engaged. I came back married and pregnant. You know, I personally had a different perception of staying, of home,” Lawrence said, adding that she was “absolutely” excited to make more films in the future.
