UN Commission of Inquiry ‘War Crimes’ documents
A The report was released on TuesdayThe UN Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine reported “Reasonable grounds for concluding that various war crimes, violations of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law have been committed”. His investigations related to the events in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Karkiv and Sumy in February and March 2022.
“The impact of these violations on civilians in Ukraine is enormous. The loss of life is counted in the thousands. The destruction of infrastructure is devastating.”Commission Chairman Eric Moss said. “The Russian Armed Forces are responsible for most of the violations identified, including war crimes.”The committee concludes that “Ukrainian forces have violated international humanitarian law in some cases, including two incidents that qualify as war crimes.”.
Specifically, the report cited “Summary execution, kidnapping, torture, ill-treatment, rape and other forms of sexual violence”, confirmed in areas occupied by the Russian Armed Forces. Incidents of illegal deportation to Russia and disappearances are also mentioned.
