Arnold Schwarzenegger And the Sylvester Stallone You may look like best friends today as they are Pumpkin carving together on instagram. But they were Hollywood rivals in the ’80s and ’90s, competing for the roles of similar action movie heroes, and this rivalry caused Stallone to make one of the biggest mistakes of his career: “Stop! Or my mom’s going to shoot.”
“I heard Schwarzenegger was going to direct this movie and I said, ‘I’m going to hit him with this movie'” Sly told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think he set me up.”
“That’s 100 percent true,” Schwarzenegger told the magazine. “In those days we did all kinds of crazy things to get ahead in our rivalry. Luckily for us and for everyone, today, we’re rooting for each other. Thank God, we definitely never need another hiatus! Or my mom will shoot.”
The two said differences in the anecdote before; Schwarzenegger said at a festival in 2017. He found the script “extremely bad” but leaked that he had a “tremendous interest” in knowing if Stallone would be bitten.
“And he went for it!” Schwarzenegger gloated. “He totally went for it.”
In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone described his once archenemy as “extremely wise” and said they are now laughing at their old age.
“I told him, ‘We are the last two dinosaurs,’” Stallone said. “We are the last two carnivores, and there isn’t much beef left there. So we better have fun with each other.”
