An American college student has been arrested for allegedly urinating on a business class passenger and engaging with cabin crew on an American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi, according to reports.
Aryan Vohra, a 21-year-old Indian national, was greeted by police when Flight AA 292 from JFK landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport early Saturday evening local time. Ani news agency.
American Airlines said in a statement Ani that Mr. Vohra was “badly drunk” and ignored the crew’s instructions.
“He was repeatedly arguing with the operating staff, was not willing to sit still, continually endangered the safety of the crew and the aircraft, and after disturbing (the) safety of other passengers, finally urinated on (a passenger) in 15 grams,” he told the news site.
The pilot had radioed in front of him to warn airport security of the troublesome passenger. Airport deputy police chief Devesh Kumar Mahla said he continued to “misbehave” after security officials took him off the plane. Ani.
Mahalla said the “strongest possible action” would be taken against the passenger as a deterrent to other travellers.
Mahalla added that the victim, a US citizen who was on the business class, did not file a complaint with the police.
However, Mr Mahla said the suspect would still be prosecuted for “endangering flight safety” under India’s Civil Aviation Act.
He added that Vohla was handed over to the Delhi Police before being released on Sunday afternoon.

Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) was met by local law enforcement authorities upon its arrival in Delhi due to a troublesome customer,” an American Airlines spokesperson said in a statement.
