This game depicts the world one year after the events Professor Layton and the Unsolved Future.
The story takes place in Steam Bison in America.
There, the power of highly advanced steam engines ushered in a new world, vastly surpassing London’s technological development.
Due to a mysterious incident in Steam Bison, a new adventure begins for Professor Layton and Luke.
Characters
- Professor Hershel Leighton (Voiced by Yu Uizumi) – Hershel Leighton, Professor of Archeology at University of Gresnühler. On the side, as an authority on mysteries, he worked with Luke to unravel mysteries around the world. Since Luke left for America, he’s been acting on his own.
- Luke Triton (voiced by Mio Imada) – Luke Triton, Professor Layton’s senior apprentice. For family reasons, he lives in the United States. His love of puzzles has not changed, and thanks to his innate creativity, he continues to solve daily puzzles around town. He gained some popularity as “Detective Locke”.

While no release date has been announced, LEVEL-5 President and CEO Akihiro Hino said that all titles featured in LEVEL-5 Vision 2023 Tsuzumi will be released in 2023 or 2024. Since then Professor Layton and the New World of Steam It is the only title without a confirmed 2023 release window, and it will likely launch sometime in 2024. It will be available for Switch.
