Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on Friday that the riots that rocked Kazakhstan were under control and that 26 “armed criminals” had been killed.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on Friday that order in the country had largely been “restored” after unprecedented unrest and unrest.
“The police are working hard. Constitutional order has been largely restored in all regions, ”the head of state said in a statement.
“Local elements are controlling the situation, but terrorists are still using weapons and damaging civilian property,” the Kazakh president continued.
The Interior Ministry said 26 rioters had been killed and 18 wounded in the riots. He confirmed that 70 checkpoints had been set up across the country and that all administrative buildings had been “liberated and placed under extra security.”

In the economic capital of Almaty and where the riots were most violent, “police and armed forces and allies are maintaining public order, maintaining strategic infrastructure and cleaning the streets,” he added.
Russian troops and other allies affiliated with Moscow arrived in Kazakhstan on Thursday to support the coup, which turned into a tumultuous riot as gas prices rose for three days, especially in Almaty.
The violence, which killed dozens and injured more than a thousand, continued Thursday as gunfire was heard in the city center, bearing the scars of the clashes.
Eighteen members of the security forces were killed and 748 wounded. About 2,300 people were arrested.
