Everything we know about Destiny 2 season in depth (no leaks)

There’s less than a month left until the release of Destiny 2’s 21st season, the season they’ve been talking about at least a little more than usual, at least giving us the name in advance, and previewing a handful of things related to the upcoming changes. Plus there are hints in the game about where it is likely to happen.

Yes, I know there have been a lot of leaks about this season. I haven’t read it, other than some realizations and buffs of weird things. But there is nothing official about the location and the story, so what I’m talking about here is just known information and in-game clues.

Maybe on an undomed Titan Look, that sounds pretty obvious. At the end of the Winterbite mission, there is a message stating that we will be returning to Titan soon. It reads: “Urgent: Saturn VI contains vital information. Witness enemy on Titan. If still alive, preservation is most important. Don’t waste time.”

The theory is that the “enemy of The Witness” might be a giant sea monster lurking just below the surface that we haven’t gotten any hard information about. Is it a different cell worm god? An Ahamkara? another thing? I think we’re just as close to seeing the return of Titan as we’ve seen the return of the forsaken Leviathan. An old and fairly young area has been altered in some way, but not permanently due to its seasonal content and likely to disappear with the final figure as Leviathan did. I don’t know if she will repeat the old savaton song strike in an altered way.

Maybe Sloane is back – We focused on the Vex as part of Lightfall and saw the return of old enemy Asher Mir, now integrated with the Vex network. Now, I suspect Sloane will likely appear again, the old Titan salesman who was last seen going full Doom Slayer in the Hive there, choosing to stay behind rather than evacuate. This has not been confirmed but seems to be a very reasonable guess. We will either find her still alive and fighting, or we will find her dead body.

taken / focus cell – You may remember first hearing “The Deep” in Destiny during the famous Whisper of the Worm quest. This was the cell god Xol talking to us at the time, and that mission was full of mission. So it makes sense that we might see a lot of Taken, along with the old foe that was on Titan, The Hive. What I don’t know is exactly how they will change the space. Too many pests? I think we’ll see.

veil quest — in response to complaints about Lightfall’s The Veil being a little off also Ambiguous, Bungie has open The quest is forthcoming to explain more about the veil through the research of Osiris and the Ishtar collective data. We know that this mission will reward us with not only information, but a “missing” grenade that appeared in promotional art for Lightfall but not in the expansion itself. It’s legendary. I think there was also a breaching bomber in the artwork, but we haven’t heard anything about that.

Also, there will be a bonus that is a new aspect for each class so we have more than two for each class. Giants get Flechette Storm, Hunters get Threaded Specter, and Warlock gets The Wanderer. To me, this sounds like something with Unraveling Rounds for Titan, something related in the Threaded Spike melee or maybe just a Super Hunter for Threaded Spectre. Witches… getting a little stringy buddy to walk around with you? Not sure, these are just guesses.

Big capacity and strange changes — unless you dive into the leaks, so far we’re shedding some light on the details here, outside of some recently announced Strand buffs that specifically help Hunter. Next week should be a very capable blog detailing the changes. We’ll also get a new round of quirky aficionados, and we’ll likely associate some of them in subcategory 3.0 keywords, more than we’ve already seen. Bungie said they will continue to do so in the future.

New dungeon – He’s on schedule. We don’t have any in-game clues about that from what I can see, and those clues are usually kept in the strictest confidence until closer to release. It’s unclear if it’s set on Titan or somewhere else, but the last two dungeons have already been tied into the seasonal story, even if they’re their own standalone locations.

That’s the biggest part of what we know, I think. I suppose I can add more to this over time, and this coming week should reveal a fair amount of information about the sandbox, to say the least.
