Google admits defeat, back to separate hardware sizes

Currently on Pixel devices and a few other Android phones, when a user decides whether they want to hear or mute notification sounds, this option also includes what happens to your ringtone. For example, if I set my phone to vibrate on incoming calls, the same rule applies then to notifications. There is no separation between the two at the operating system level. According to Google, this will change soon.

Detailed via google own Version Tracker website, it was announced that separate notifications and ringtone volume are coming to Android. As it says, “requested feature will be available in a future build”, which is great news considering that’s the way things used to be.

This is not the first time we’ve seen this news. In fact, it was first noticed that the separation of notifications and ringtone volume was happening back in December 2022. It seems that Google has finished this move and will eventually bring the change into the Android architecture for users. sweet.

It was weird putting them together in the first place. Always give people a choice. Personally, my phone has been on mute for the past two years, a trick Kellen taught me a while ago. It was a game changer. Sue more peaceful.
