Pat Cooper, Seinfeld, and Analyze This dies at 93

Longtime stand-up comedian Pat Cooper passed away on Tuesday. He was 93 years old.

Cooper’s co-writer and producer Steve Garin confirmed to Fox News Digital that the beloved comedian passed away at his home in Las Vegas.

“There was no one like Pat Cooper, who burned every bridge he passed,” Garin joked. “I put out a lot of fires.”

He added, “He was an honest man. You can count on him. You can trust him. If he gave you his word and said he was going to do something, he did it. And he helped a lot of people.”

The Brooklyn-born comedian first found success with Frank Sinatra on Sand in Las Vegas.

Born Cooper Pascual Caputo, he was known for his flawless delivery and sassy style against his Italian-American background.

Cooper was also known as a master roaster At the Friars ClubWhere comedians tell each other the best jokes.

He portrayed himself in the 1996 episode of “Seinfeld”, titled “The Monk’s Club”.

Garen recalled how memorable Cooper’s scene turned out.

“I was sitting at his table in his kitchen, and the phone was ringing, and it was Larry David. “He picks up the phone and hangs it up. I go, ‘What was that?’ He says, ‘Some nut.’ The phone rings again, and I pick it up and hang up.

I said, “What’s going on with you?” Then he said, “Someone says he’s Larry David,” and I said, “Well, maybe if he calls again, see if that’s the case.”

As fate would have it, David called again and offered Cooper a guest spot on the popular sitcom ‘Seinfeld’.

Cooper’s sight was completely clouded.

“You take a quick look and you say — if you look at Jason Alexander’s face — he says, ‘Are you in show business?'” Jason looked at him as if he didn’t know what was going on, but they went with it, and he said, “No,” and then he said, “Well, what am I talking to you about?” Garen recalls: “And Bum — that was it, and they kept with it”.

Garrin also recalled that he was at a Jerry Lewis roast at the Friars Club with Cooper, who was asked to tell the audience not to take pictures of another guest on the show, Robert De Niro.

Once Cooper got on stage, Garen Cooper recalled saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, they just told me Robert De Niro is in the audience. Get your cameras out.”

In addition to his stand-up success, Cooper was a fan favorite on “The Howard Stern Show” and has dozens of credits on the silver screen.

He collaborated with De Niro and Billy Crystal on 1999’s “Analyze This,” which was followed by its sequel in 2002, Analyze That.

Cooper is survived by his wife, Emily Conner, two daughters, and one son.
