Ukrainian commander-in-chief calls for fighter jets again – rts.ch

Ukraine’s deputy defense minister announced Friday that Ukrainian forces are advancing “in all directions” of a counteroffensive against Russian forces. Claims that cannot be independently verified.

“If we talk about the front in general, in the east and the south, we have taken the strategic initiative, we are moving in all directions,” said Hannah Maliar.

The Ukrainian leader said Kiev troops were advancing “with confidence” around the devastated city of Bakhmoud (east).

“In the south we’re progressing with varying success, sometimes there are days where it’s more than a kilometer, sometimes it’s less, sometimes it’s up to two kilometers,” Hannah Malier added.

For his part, US Chief of Staff Mark Milley pointed out on Friday that the Ukrainian military was making “constant advances”, “500, 1000, 2000 meters a day, that kind of thing”.

Russia portrays the Ukrainian counteroffensive as a clear failure and confirms that Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week that the counteroffensive was progressing more slowly than desired, but Kiev was in no rush to pick up the pace.
