NASCAR Cup Drivers to Watch in Atlanta

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway for Sunday’s race (6:30 p.m. ET, USA Network).

This is the second and final trip to the track this season. Joey Logano won there earlier this season.

There are eight races left until qualifying begins in the Cup. Here’s a look at the drivers to keep an eye on on Sunday night:

Past in Atlanta: He won the pole, led 140 laps in the race and passed Brad Keselowski on the last lap to win at Atlanta in March.

Brad Keselowski

Points position: Thirteenth

Best achievement this season: II (Atlanta 1)

Past in Atlanta: Most Active Driver Winner at Drafting Tracks With seven wins, he led until the last lap in Atlanta in March.

Ross Chastain

Points position: the third

Best achievement this season: First (Nashville)

Past in Atlanta: He has two top-five finishes in the three races at Atlanta since the track was reconfigured.

Chase Elliott

Points position: 24

Best achievement this season: II (Fontana)

Past in Atlanta: Three consecutive finishes of seventh or better, including winning that race last year.

Questions to answer

Corey Lajoie

Points position: twenty third

Best achievement this season: fourth (Atlanta first)

Past in Atlanta: He has two top-five finishes in the three races held at Atlanta since the track was reconfigured. This seemed to be his best chance for his first cup victory.

Martin Truex Jr

Points position: the first

Best achievement this season: I (Dover, Sonoma)

Past in Atlanta: Two straight finishes of grade 11 or worse. No wins in 76 career starts forging tracks (Daytona, Talladega and Atlanta)

Alex Bowman

Points position: XX

Best achievement this season: 3rd place (Las Vegas 1, Kota)

Past in Atlanta: Two consecutive finishes of 14th or worse in Atlanta. He has never led a lap in 10 career Cup starts on the track.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr

Points position: fourteenth

Best achievement this season: 1 (Daytona 500)

Past in Atlanta: He has nine consecutive finishes of 12th or worse at Atlanta, but has led laps in the last three races there.
