As Diablo 4 approaches its Season 1 launch, players are working towards the endgame, reaching the level cap and completing some of the game’s toughest challenges. But for some, this is not enough. For some, the ultimate challenge is hitting enemies with billions of points of damage just five weeks after launch.
Last week, Diablo 4 streamer Moxsy hit the game’s highest damage ever: 957957504.

But it didn’t take long for Moxsy to breach the 1 billion mark with a staggering 1.8 billion hits.

Since then, a Diablo 4 YouTuber named Echohack has posted a screenshot showing 2.1 billion results.

These astronomical damage numbers are currently beyond the capacity of the vast majority of Diablo 4 characters, and make the game’s most powerful and elite enemies evaporate in the blink of an eye. So, what is going on here?
Moxsy uses a Druid Werewolf construct dubbed “LIGHTNING SHRED 2.0”, which allows a character to teleport to their enemies and make them “vulnerable”. It’s worth noting the importance of the Stormclaw aspect of this build. This deals additional lightning damage to the target and surrounding enemies on critical hits with the Shred skill. Stormclaw measures lightning damage in a way that appears outside the limits established by Diablo 4 through what’s called “double dip” damage. Moxsy explains what’s going on in more detail in the video.
With billions appearing in the headlines now, all eyes will be on Blizzard to see if they consider this kind of expected gameplay to be damage-driven, broken in a way that requires a nerf, or a base change that limits double-drop damage. Meanwhile, Diablo 4 players are enjoying watching the race to 3 billion.
Feeling overwhelmed by Diablo 4? Blizzard has told players who’ve met all of their goals that it’s a good idea to take a break from the game before the launch of the first season, dubbed Season of the Malignant, on July 20.
