It has Apple TV Plus She released her first trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a 10-episode series based on Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise featuring iconic kaiju characters such as Godzilla, King Kong, and King Ghidorah. The first two episodes will be released globally on the streaming platform on November 17, followed by one episode each week until January 12.
The trailer itself doesn’t offer much in terms of what we can expect either. There are some excerpts of Bill Randa (played by John Goodman) appearing in it Kong: Skull Island (2017), flashes of several giant monsters, and of course an ominous soundscape supporting the footage of all the glorious destruction they likely caused. If, like me, you’re a Monsterverse fan because you love watching giant creatures fight like apocalyptic Pokemon, it’s looking very promising so far.
The events of the series take place after the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), follows two brothers as they explore their family’s connection to Monarch—the mysterious organization that has been interfering with Godzilla, King Kong, and other primordial titans. Spanning multiple time periods, the siblings’ journey leads them to army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and his real-life son Wyatt Russell) and explores his involvement with Monarch since the 1950s.
It stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Rin Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elsa Lasowski. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters It aims to explore “the question of who the real monsters are” in a world where humanity is trying to coexist with a newly discovered group of gigantic giants.
It’s good to see that Warner Bros. and Toho remain committed to the joint Monsterverse project. Next film in the franchise – Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – It’s scheduled to be released in the US on April 12 next year, so we won’t have long to wait before we can get another Titan fight fix in theaters.
