On Wednesday, police seized significant assets belonging to three brothers suspected of being part of Italy’s most powerful mafia ‘Ndrangheta’.

Italian police on Wednesday announced the confiscation of assets worth 800 million euros (about 835 million francs) owned by three brothers suspected of links to the Calabrian mafia ‘Ndrangheta’. The property is home to a number of companies, supermarkets, and one of the largest shopping centers in Calabria (southern), as well as real estate, including two luxury villas, according to a statement from the Financial Police (GDF).
Seized assets include current accounts, luxury motorcycles and Ferrari. Justice has been investigating the assets of the three brothers involved in the investigation, which was opened at the end of an anti-mafia operation in 2015.
The most powerful mafia
According to the AGI agency, Antonio Perry’s son Franco, brothers Pasculino and Marcello Perry were killed in front of one of his supermarkets in 2003. According to investigators, the three brothers “made significant profits by their links with the Mafia and by violating unfettered market rules.”
According to the same source, they will be the “reference entrepreneurs” of the ‘Entrangata clans’ in the Lamezia Term region of Calabria, south of the Italian boot. According to the same source they would have had a kind of monopoly in the fields in which their companies worked.
The Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta is considered by experts to be the most powerful Italian mafia since the transformation of the Cicilian Cosa Nostra and the Neapolitan Camorra.
