Cairo, December 5, 2019 (Xinhua) Imhotep Museum in the Saqqara Necropolis area, south of Cairo. The capital of Egypt has returned to welcome the public again. Since last Sunday (December 3)
Reports say that the museum was named after Imhotep. The architect and servant of Djoser, the second king of the Third Dynasty in Egypt. There are 286 artifacts on display in six halls, including about 70 temporary exhibits.
Imhotep was the architect of the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which was built in the twenty-seventh century BC. Which makes it the oldest massive stone structure in Egyptian history.
Ahmed Issa, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, is said to be one of the most beautiful archaeological museums.
The collections range from statues, vessels and tablets to souvenir and burial objects. Most of them were discovered at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saqqara, along with the Pyramids of Giza and Dahshur.
The Imhotep Museum has an area of about 1,500 square meters, and it was opened in 2006 until it was closed for renovations in March 2022 by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities.
