Israeli army apologizes and admits to shooting 3 hostages, citing misunderstanding

The Israeli army has admitted that they shot dead three Israeli hostages mistaking them for a threat. During operations in Gaza

Foreign news agencies reported that on December 15, 2023, Israel Defense Forces admitted that their soldiers shot and killed three Israeli hostages during an operation in the northern Gaza Strip city of Shejaya. The latter mistook them for a threat.

“During Operation Sejoya, the IDF misclassified three Israeli hostages as a threat, resulting in soldiers opening fire on them, which cost them their lives,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari told a brief press conference on Friday.

“During the search and inspection of the area, suspicion arose when the bodies of the deceased were identified at the site of the incident. Their bodies were then sent to Israeli territory for an autopsy. It was later confirmed that they were three Israeli hostages.”

The three hostages, Yotam Haim and Alon Shamris, kidnapped from Kibbutz Kafar Asa, and Samar Talalka, kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Am.

Mr Hagari said the IDF immediately began reviewing the facts of the incident after the incident. It is believed that the three hostages escaped or were left there by the terrorists. But now I can’t answer it. All three victims raised their hands to the sky. Or yelling at soldiers before being shot?

“The IDF expresses its deepest sorrow for this tragedy. And my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Our country’s mission is to find the missing and bring home all the hostages,” Mr. Hagari said.
