How did your musical journey begin?

I first got into music when I was 16 when I created a YouTube channel called Gentle Bones. I started posting covers of songs until I had the idea that I wanted to write my own music. I started writing “Til We Die” which was my first song. And from that song I came to talk to you today!

Who is the person who influenced you the most?

JJ Lane, Michael Jackson and Ed Sheeran were the three role models that got me interested in songwriting and really inspired me to become a musician.

Tell us about your new album, “Same Same.”

Starting with the album name, I took inspiration from my production duo, SameSame, which is a word commonly used in Singapore that refers to a deal/arrangement. I think the name is very appropriate for this album.

What song do you like to sing the most on stage?

I love the songs “Better with You” with Benjamin King and “Dear Me”, but on this new album, maybe “Hey You” or “Tonight Just Got Better” would be better if I could sing them on stage. I feel very good as well.

Over time, has your style changed?

For me, I think it's about growth. I have been working in music for almost 10 years, since high school. Something to be really proud of Now here are the images, sounds and themes. That I've explored over the years I feel like I've grown with the listeners. And my listeners are the people who have helped me the most in guiding me on my journey. So I hope to do that too through my songs for them.

What would you be doing now if you weren't a musician?

Maybe I'll graduate from college and maybe get a job. I never thought about this before but I'm very lucky to work in music. I'm a big fan of a lot of things, so it's going to be really cool. If you work in another way (as a profession) too.

What message would you like to leave with your audience?

I hope everyone stays strong during these times. I hope my songs help you see the world better, both now and in the future.
