At least 550 pilgrims die from heatstroke: PPTVHD36

There are reports of a number of people dying due to the heat while performing Hajj in Mecca. It jumped to more than 550 cases.

Foreign news agencies reported that at least 550 pilgrims died while performing the Hajj rituals in Mecca, Saudi Arabia due to extreme temperatures, highlighting the grueling nature of the Hajj for Muslims, who are increasingly exposed to the heat.

Two Arab diplomats who coordinated the investigation revealed that among the dead were at least 323 Egyptians, most of whom died of heat-related illnesses. “All the Egyptians died because of the heat, except one who was born from the crowded crowd.”

The diplomat added that 14 Jordanians had previously been reported dead, but the number has now risen to at least 60.

These updated figures bring the total number of pilgrims killed in all countries to 577.

Earlier on June 18, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this and is cooperating with the Saudi authorities in searching for an Egyptian citizen who disappeared during the Hajj.

The Saudi official side reported that it treated more than 2,000 pilgrims who suffered from heatstroke. But the numbers have not been updated since June 16 and do not provide information on the number of deaths.

Last year, it was reported that at least 240 pilgrims died, coming from several countries. But most of them are Indonesian.

Hajj is one of the important rituals of Islam. Every Muslim who has the ability must do this at least once in his life.

Meanwhile, a Saudi study published last month said the Hajj is increasingly affected by extreme weather conditions. Temperatures in places of worship are rising at a rate of 0.4 degrees Celsius every decade.

The Saudi National Center of Meteorology said: The temperature near the Grand Mosque in Mecca on June 17 reached 51.8 degrees Celsius.

Saudi officials advise pilgrims to use umbrellas. Drink plenty of water and avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest times of the day. But many Hajj rituals include prayer on Mount Arafat. Which took place on June 15, will require staying outdoors for several hours during the day.

Some pilgrims reported seeing corpses on the side of the road. And many ambulances

It is estimated that 1.8 million pilgrims will participate in Hajj rituals this year, including 1.6 million coming from abroad. According to the Saudi official
