When we talk about Nintendo, or what we know as Grandpa Nin, we often think of good quality games again. (Who knows that sentence, you're not young anymore) which is sent directly to the fans who play and are worth the price paid so that Nintendo can have its own market without having to compete to make powerful game consoles. Or there are games with beautiful graphics like other devices on the market. But in the past, Grandpa Nin was able to find out about this matter. Grandpa used to get lost in the competition in the market where gaming machines had to be powerful and the graphics were beautiful. In addition, there must be more innovation than anyone else in the market. They still have to stick to the same things they succeeded at before. Which got lost in the trend until it turned out to be a gaming machine Nintendo 64 (On June 23, 1996, a game console was released that included everything we mentioned. Along with the release of Super Mario 64, it opened a new chapter for the Super Mario series to shine even more. Today, let's take a look at the story of this machine and this game together.
Let's start with the N64 gaming console, which requires you to travel back in time 28 years ago. Nintendo released a new gaming console after the Super Famicom, the Nintendo 64. As the name suggests, this device can handle 64-bit images. Beautiful. While the market's dominant competitor at the time, the PlayStation 1, only had 32-bit graphics, the launch of N64 games stunned fans when Nintendo showed off the upcoming Super Mario 64 game ready for the console that day. Thanks to beautiful graphics, fans watched Uncle Mustache as he… He's running in a big space that we've never seen before in that era.
Which looks very nice Rama 9, but what Nintendo forgot to think about is that they are still sticking to the same things and coming up with new things that are so new and strange that people at that time cannot accept them. This was using game cartridges instead of CDs like game consoles of that era. Producing games on N64 cartridges was very difficult and expensive, unlike PlayStation CDs, which cost less and did not require 64-bit graphics, but gave better results. Therefore, it is not surprising that game studios are not interested in making games on this device. This does not even include the 3D joystick, which Nintendo wants to open new innovations in 3D gaming on the market, but the result is the opposite because the joystick is not comfortable to hold and is difficult to control. There are additional accessories to play some games, burying Nintendo until it completely dies.
But even though the N64 was Nintendo's failure, the N64 was the machine that birthed many legendary games. Starting with the Super Mario 64 series, which has 3D graphics, allowing us to explore large settings such as Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey, which also originated from this game. Or is it a legendary shooting game like GoldenEye 007 which is considered the prototype of a realistic shooting game? (Not the first FPS) that other games followed suit or is it a very timeless fighting game like Super Smash Bros, which was first born on the N64? This doesn't even include legendary games like The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, if it weren't for the N64 there certainly wouldn't be such games.
Now let's take a look at the legendary game Super Mario 64, which is one of the pioneering games that makes people flock to get this game to play. Because it was new in that era we usually only see Super Mario series games with 2D graphics side by side, but when it comes to Super Mario 64, it is a new dimension where we can move freely in the scene. There are also worlds we can explore that still have the full Super Mario feel. Many things have been added. Therefore, it is not surprising that Pu Nin fans are rushing to buy this game to play.
What many people do not know is that Super Mario 64 became the prototype for 3D action games that many games followed, but no game was able to overthrow the prototype like Super Mario 64 until Nintendo took this system and expanded it with Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube. The graphics expanded to be more beautiful as new systems were added, eventually paving the way for a new Super Mario series. Even today, even though we're playing it now, the game is still fun. Although more than 28 years have passed
For anyone interested in looking for an N64 with Super Mario 64 games to collect, there are many types and prices. In the past, there was an auction for an original Super Mario 64 game that was never made out of plastic, and it went for millions. For those who do not want to buy a device and a game cartridge to play due to the difficulty of controlling the joystick. Go and sign up for Nintendo Switch Online, which has monthly and yearly subscriptions, and you'll be able to play old Nintendo games, including Super Mario 64 (this time the controls are much easier than in the original game). You'll know that old games from 28 years ago are still fun to play now.
