He confirmed that he did not sleep well the night before the discussion. He said that he did not feel well.

The phrase also said, “I'm not going anywhere” on the Fourth of July, the day of the United States' Independence Day. Biden said, “I'm not going anywhere.”

Just one day after the debate, Biden is trying to regain confidence. Speaking at a campaign event in North Carolina, he said, “I know I’m not a young man. Everybody knows that… I can’t talk as well as I used to. I can’t argue as well as I used to. But I know what I know. I know how to tell the truth. I know what’s right and what’s wrong.”

Now top Democrats are debating whether President Joe Biden should step down as his party's presidential candidate and whether there has been a call for Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him in the role.

President Biden’s seniority is thought to be a major factor in his polling disadvantage. And some say it’s for the best if the new campaign starts with Ms. Harris, 59.

However, her approval rating remains low, and there are doubts about whether she made a good enough impression as vice president to be elected president.

Kamala Harris made history in the 2020 presidential election when she became the first woman, first person of color, and first Asian to serve as Vice President of the United States.

In November 2021, she served as Acting President for 75 minutes during President Biden's physical examination.

Harris was born in Oakland, California to immigrant parents; her mother was born in India and her father was born in Jamaica.

When she was five years old, her parents divorced. She was then raised by her mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, a cancer researcher and human rights activist.

Kamala says her mother allowed her and her younger sister Maya to fully participate in Oakland's black community.

“My mother understood that she was raising two black girls,” she wrote in her autobiography, The Truths We Hold. She holds a law degree from the University of California, Hastings, and has worked in various California Attorney General's offices before becoming California Attorney General in 2010.

She was elected to the California State Senate in 2016.

In 2020, Ms. Harris campaigned for the Democratic presidential nomination, but she withdrew from the race in the first term.

However, she was chosen by Joe Biden as his vice president when he was nominated.

“Kamala is smart, strong, experienced and a true fighter,” Biden said.

Together, the two defeated then-President and Vice President Donald Trump and Mike Pence, respectively.

Although she played a minor role during the campaign, Ms. Harris’s identity as a woman and a person of color may have played a major role in this victory, because their team won 90% of the votes of black women who went to vote.

As Vice President of the United States, they also serve as President of the United States Senate. They have the right to cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie on a bill.

She has set a record by exercising this right 32 times, more than any other vice president in U.S. history.

The BBC's US special correspondent Kathy Kay said the likely reason could be the primary task President Biden gave her as vice president: curbing migration across the southern US border. And she has often failed to do so.

Five House Democrats have publicly called on 81-year-old Joe Biden to step down from the party's presidential nomination in November because of his poor performance on the June debate stage with Donald Trump.

Tim Ryan, a representative from Ohio who has been offered Kamala Harris as his replacement, wrote in Newsweek: “I strongly believe that our best path forward is with Kamala Harris. Those who say that nominating Ms. Harris is a greater risk than the Mr. Joe Biden we saw that night… are not.”

California Representative Adam Schiff said Ms. Harris would be called a “great president” and could defeat Mr. Trump. Recent polls “overwhelmingly” suggest that Harris would do better than Mr. Biden in a race against Mr. Trump. But she faces a close race.

CNN Poll Results The poll, released July 2, showed that 43% of voters want Mr Biden as president, while 49% prefer Mr Trump. It also said that if Ms Harris ran for president, 45% would support her and 47% would support Mr Trump.

Others who have been mentioned as potential candidates to replace Mr Biden include California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

However, Ms. Harris declared her continued support for President Biden, saying: “Listen, Joe Biden is our representative. We beat Trump once and we will beat him again.”
