Anyone using a Macbook with a notch in the display now has a new app called NotchNook that adds notification capabilities similar to the Dynamic Island app on the iPhone.
The NotchNook expands on the screen with a notch, similar to the Dynamic Island, with media playback controls similar to the Live Activities in iOS, and more customizable widgets. There is also a “Tray” tab where we can place files or applications, similar to the bottom dock of macOS. This Dock will be empty if we exit the NotchNook.
We can access NotchNook by clicking on the tab that merges into the notch. Or place the mouse cursor and then drag your finger down on the trackpad. Or set the tabs to scroll down automatically when you hover over them.
Mac models without a notch can also use this app. Which we can customize to look like a notch on the screen New features will be added in the future such as zipping/decompressing files by simply dragging and dropping files.
Of course, the app still has some areas that need improvement, such as deleting files from the Dock, and supporting some music playback apps like Apple Music, but other apps don't have visual controls.
