Overseas voting has begun
Voters began going to the polls overseas and abroad from Saturday. Polling stations will open at 8 a.m. Sunday in the mainland of France.
Let’s vote in silence! Voters began voting on Saturday, the first round of the presidential election, overseas and abroad, while the city had to wait until Sunday to decide between the 12 candidates, which was held until the final with the biggest choice. The ballot, however, promises to be tight in between Emmanuel Macron And Marine Le Pen, 2017 favorites, with Jean-Luc Mலlenchon.
Many political scientists fear that April 21, 2002 (28.4%) may break the record, the highest level ever recorded in the first round of the presidential election, which is higher than in 2017 (22.2%). A nice vintage.
According to political scientist Pascal Perrino, the new element is a high proportion of undecided voters, which causes “significant” uncertainty on the ballot.
Fake polls
The National Commission for Campaigning and the Polling Commission also called on voters on Friday to “exercise extreme caution.” Polls are non-existent and may be “misinformation”.
Public meetings, distribution of leaflets and digital campaigning have been banned as the results are pending from 8pm on Sunday.
Polls will open at 8 a.m. Sunday in the mainland of France, and no interview, poll or assessment will be released before the results. Two candidates, Yannick Jodot and Jean-Luc Mன்சlenchon, were announced at a rally in Paris on Saturday for climate and social justice.
Voting in the United States
Considering the time difference, some foreign voters are voting on Saturday. St-Pierre-et-Miquelon rolled the ball at 8am (noon in Paris), followed by Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthelemy.
Then comes the Pacific, with Polynesia starting to vote at 8pm in Paris, Wallis and Futuna and New Caledonia. In the Indian Ocean, where there is little time difference, reunions will take place on Sunday at 6 a.m. Paris time and May 7 at 7 p.m.
Some French people living abroad are also in the front, but Shanghai residents cannot vote, as China’s largest city is restricted in the name of China’s zero Govt strategy.
In France, surgical masks are available at all polling stations. Wearing them is not mandatory, but is “strongly recommended” for those who are weak and have recently tested positive for Covit-19. Weak persons may also request priority access.
“Decay”
“We experienced a bizarre campaign that broke with all the fantasies of the presidential election,” Iphob director AFP Frédéric Dabi explains.
An “unprecedented” campaign for a number of reasons: the war in Ukraine “anesthetic”, “low interest” which contradicts previous elections and the lack of “conflict of routine plans” between competing candidates.
“We have debates with a kind of petty quarrel,” especially between far-right activist Eric Zemor and LR candidate Valerie Beckress, or between Insomnia Jean-Luc Mன்சlenchon and a fragmented left-wing candidate. Ecologist Yannick Jadot, Communist Fabian Russell, Socialist on Hidalgo or Trotskyists Philippe Pauto and Natalie Ordot.
Sovereign Nicholas DuPont-Aiken and Bernouss Vice President Jean LaSalle regretted campaigning without debate.
Republican Front “eroded”
Candidates multiplied the last week of the campaign to avoid decision-making and non-voting: last major meetings, media revelations, final field trips. The outgoing president, always at the top of the ballot, entered the campaign late, first prevented by a health crisis, and then by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
He focused on a large national gathering on Saturday, April 2 in La Defense, but provided a boost with several interviews over the weekend, making a brief surprise visit to a market in Neuilly-sur on Friday.- Seine.
Marine Le Pen, who made her final trip to Aude on Friday, started an uphill pace after worrying about her far-right rival Eric Jemmoor, consolidating second place and then gradually closing the gap with Emmanuel Macron.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon gradually climbed to third. Political scientists, however, did not rule out the possibility that a surprise would disrupt this trifle given by opinion polls. Before the end of the first round, several candidates presented themselves in the perspective of the Macron-Le Pen fight in the second round, exposing the cracks in the “Republican front” against the far right.
“It has been a while since the Republican Front has been like this before. It has been eroded from above and below, ”Gilles Finselstein, director of the Jean-Jaros Foundation, told AFP. “It is a spring”, but it is an illusion to think that this spring will be “enough”.
