Ukraine and Russia: Kyiv mayor warns residents who fled to return amid renewed Russia offensive

More than 900 civilians have been found dead in cities around Kyiv, as Ukrainian forces continue to retake areas previously occupied by the Russian army.

Smoke rose over Kyiv on Saturday after the latest Russian missile killed one person and injured several others.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has warned residents who have fled the city not to return amid these new attacks.

“We do not rule out further strikes on the capital,” Klitschko said. “If you have the opportunity to stay a little longer in cities where it is safer, do it.”

Russia shows British soldier on state TV

Russia broadcast a video of a British soldier on television after he was captured during the fighting in Ukraine. The soldier identifies himself as Sean Benner and confirms that he is a British citizen.

“I was arrested in Mariupol,” he said in a video, not indicating when it was filmed. “I am part of the 36th Brigade of the 1st Battalion of the Ukrainian Marines. I have been fighting in Mariupol for five to six weeks and now I am in the Donetsk People’s Republic.”

Benner supposedly moved to Ukraine four years ago and lived with his wife in the Donbass, according to The Guardian. He previously served in the English Royal Regiment and fought with the Ukrainian army when Russia invaded.

He previously told The Mail on Sunday that he feared arrest because he believed “the Russians would treat us differently if we were captured because we’re British. That’s always on my mind.”

As Russia sets our sights on the Odessa seaport, we must “underestimate the Ukrainians”: General Kane

Retired General Jack Keane told Fox News that Ukraine’s military defied all expectations in its fight against the Russian invasion, even as the Kremlin set its sights on making the country landlocked.

In an interview broadcast Sunday on “Life, Liberty & Levin,” Kane, chief strategist at Fox News and president of the Institute for the Study of War, told host Mark Levin that Vladimir Putin’s military is somehow telegraphing similar tactics it used when it first invaded Ukraine. From the north it is trying to close its southern maritime zone.

Many military vehicles approaching the main port of Odessa and other regional cities are wheeled and not tracked vehicles like tanks.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) allegedly requested more money to cover the costs of the troops’ funeral services.

The exact number of losses of Russian troops has not been confirmed, but officials in Western countries believe that the losses are huge.
