AT&T Byron Nelson on Sunday set for some fireworks with hometown favorite Jordan Spieth to win this championship for the first time in his career. Spieth is a quarterback to leader Sebastian Munoz and is vying for his second win in a row after taking home the RBC Heritage the week after the Masters.
After 67 on Thursday, he fired 65-64 and is ready for two straight wins in his bid for the PGA Championship (and professional majors) next week at Southern Hills. He’s not the only star in the mix, either. Joaquin Niemann is second, Justin Thomas is third, and Masters champion Scotty Scheffler lurks five strokes between himself and Munoz.
It will be very interesting to watch Munoz try to hold his lead, which builds largely on his amazing 60 shot in the first round. He’s in a good position to win again, but he has a lot to worry about as he ends one of the deceptively good events of the year so far and starts the Grand Championship week once that event is over.
