Christian Dupesy, the Socialist mayor of Annemasse, went to Perrier on Saturday to thank state agents (police, firemen) and support the people of the district “who are the first to suffer”. The blackened facade of Nelson Mandela’s residence has shocked locals. “This children’s home is a true icon, a meeting place, the heart of Periyar. Tackling it means dealing with mechanisms that make it possible to move towards greater equality and greater rights. This is why we see tears in the eyes of the residents this morning,” said a very emotional Christian Dubessy.

Additional police will be deployed on Saturday evening. At the request of the French authorities, Geneva Public Transport (TPG) will renew the measure taken by suspending the border lines from 9pm on Friday. Tram 17 between Annemasse and Geneva stops at Moylesulas, Line 38 Hermans, Line G Aniers-Tounay and Line K Chauncey-Tounay. Line de Bel-Air to Berly-Douan will be maintained. Lines 64, 66 and 66, but F, M and N deleted. Noctumpus is also not in circulation.
