Although Texas A&M entered the bout with 24 underdog points to No. 1 in Alabama, the Aggies were still tough. Crimson Tide advanced 24-17 to enter the fourth quarter on one of the nights that the Aggies forced four turnovers in Alabama and cashed in three-for-tens.
Texas A&M forced its third mark of the game halfway through the third quarter and recovered at its 38-yard streak. He walked the field, but wide receiver Moss Mehmet III dropped an easy turn of the third down that forced the visitors to settle into the field goal. Alabama drove straight down the field late in the frame, but Will Richard pushed 47 yards from the goal field to the left, giving Texas A&M the ball a chance to advance early in the fourth inning.
The Alabama star running back Jammer Gibbs appeared to hurt his shoulder late in the third game after lifting 138 yards in 45 minutes. This would be something to watch going forward as he was the focal point of an attack that was forced to be one-dimensional under reserve centre-back Galen Millereau.
