Science Fiction Concepts That Turn Mars Into a Human-Living Land In Reality Can You Do It? That question has yet to be answered, recently, by a research team led by electrical and computer engineering scientists at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA. It revealed that the average surface temperature of Mars is about -65 degrees Celsius with a very thin atmosphere. The heat coming from the sun that ignites on the surface of Mars and thus easily escapes into space.
So, to make the red planet like Mars warmer, scientists are proposing a new approach by injecting genetically modified particles, which are similar in size to the shiny material sold in the market made of steel or aluminum, into the atmosphere as a spray to trap them. The heat is released and sunlight is spread across the surface of Mars. The idea is to increase the natural greenhouse effect on Mars to increase surface temperatures by about 28 degrees Celsius over 10 years.
The team said the proposal would use nanoparticles designed to warm the Martian atmosphere. Including weather modeling, the approach has been found to be more effective than previous ideas. It is important for modifying the weather on Mars and could be used as information in future Mars exploration strategies.
