There has been a long debate between art experts and art lovers for centuries. The painting “Madonna della Rosa” is by the famous Italian artist Raphael. It is the work of Raphael himself. Or is it a joint work by Raphael and another artist?
Until recently, artificial intelligence came to help solve this problem. Written by Professor Hasan Ocel, Director of the Center for Visual Computing and Intelligent Systems at the University of Bradford in England. An algorithm has been developed with an accuracy rate of up to 98%.
The results of the analysis show that this picture is not the work of Raphael alone although most of the artworks were actually written by Raphael. But Joseph's face is likely the work of another artist. It probably belonged to his student Julio Romano.
The AI training followed the same format as regular AI training: exposing the AI to Raphael's documented drawings, allowing the AI to learn about his drawing style at a very detailed level. From the brush strokes, color palettes, shading, and every aspect of the work. Computers can see much deeper than the human eye. It gets down to the microscopic level.
