The Atlanta Braves signed their third base star Austin Riley The team announced on Monday that the contract is a 10-year term, valued at $212 million.
The deal runs through the 2032 season, and includes the club’s $20 million option for 2033. Riley has also agreed to donate $2.12 million to the Atlanta Braves Foundation, according to the team.
This news comes just weeks after 25-year-old Riley made his first All-Star Game. He currently hits .301 with 29 home points and 68 RBI, with a 0.964 OPS in 101 games this season. His 61 additional songs were the biggest hits in the majors, and included 26 hits in July – which broke Hank Aaron’s previous franchise record by one (1961).
Riley currently has the second shortest odds of winning an NL MVP at +500, only behind her Paul Goldschmidt St. Louis Cardinals (-140).
Riley was a first-round pick for the Braves in 2015.
He made his league debut four years later, kicked off last season, and finished seventh in the NL MVP vote after hitting 0.303 with 33 home runs and 107 RBI.
With the extension, the young brave core of Riley, Ronald Akuna Jr.. And the Ozzy Albis All signed until at least 2025 (Albies’ contract runs through 2025, with team options in 2026 and ’27; Acuña’s deal runs through 2026, with team options in 2027 and ’28). All three are aged 25 or younger.
