Berea, Ohio – Brown now has a strong Cady York quarterback, who stacks positively with his North Asian counterparts Justin Tucker of the Ravens and Evan McPherson of the Bengals.
They made their fans happy on Saturday by knocking York out of LSU in 124th in Round 4. The pick in the deal was earned down from #44 on day 2. They followed in the footsteps of the Bengals, who drafted McPherson in the fifth round last year and watched him help kick Cincinnati in the Super Bowl.
He’ll take over from Chase McLaughlin, who struggled last season, especially from 40 to 49 yards.
Brown liked York so much, they sent special teams coordinator Mike Prever to LSU to work on it. He was the first player to come off the board, and would assist the Browns in their offensive strategy due to his ability to hit 50 outwards. 15 out of 19 of that distance have gone in college.
“He’s a player with great consensus across the organization and we’re really excited to have him added,” said Dan Sagani, an executive at Brown. “We love his mental makeup. He has a kicking mentality.”
