Canon has launched two full-frame mirrorless cameras, the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II.

Canon officially announces two new full-frame mirrorless cameras in the EOS R system. With the flagship model “EOS R1' It truly meets the needs of professional photographers. With the new image processing chip and high-performance autofocus system, it allows for high-speed shooting. And the excellent quality that comes with Hybrid CamaraEOS R5 Mark II' With a newly developed backside-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor (BSI) that delivers up to 45MP image resolution and an accelerated image processing system that records up to 8K 60P video.

This launch takes the EOS R camera to a new generation and creates an exciting phenomenon in high-quality content production.

EOS R1: Become one of the masters

This flagship model features a 24MP stacked backside illumination (BSI) CMOS sensor, which in addition to being efficient at receiving light, the new sensor also enables it to read image data at revolutionary speeds. Thanks to In-Camera Upscaling technology, it increases image resolution to 96MP for outstanding file quality. Continuous shooting is possible at up to 40fps. Ready to increase continuous shooting speed with the newly developed AF-ON button.

Additionally, the EOS R1 is Canon's first mirrorless camera to feature a cross-type focusing system and a new generation of Dual Pixel Intelligent AF that can accurately detect small objects or objects in complex background patterns. It comes with two processing chips: the DIGIC X image processing chip and the DIGIC Accelerated Focus System chip. It helps improve autofocus (AF) performance and superior object detection. Especially the AF system in Action Priority mode, where the camera prioritizes up to 10 pre-selected subjects and continuously locks focus on them. Even if you're facing sideways.

Not only that, the EOS R1 comes with a built-in 5-axis image stabilization (IS) system with next-generation mechanisms and algorithms that improve performance, especially when used with RF lenses that have built-in lens image stabilization. The 8.5-stop equivalent image stabilization allows users to use the camera handheld to capture clear and beautiful images. Even without a tripod, the EOS R1 also supports RAW video recording at up to 6K 60P and Full HD 240P.

EOS R5 Mark II: Imagine Bigger Things

This model comes with a maximum resolution of 8K 60P RAW video recording with Dual Pixel Intelligent AF, which improves the efficiency of object detection in both video and still photography in high resolution even when against a complex and challenging background. It can shoot continuously at up to 30 frames per second. And many more powerful functions are built into the camera

In addition, it also delivers an impressive image collection using a newly developed 45MP backside-illuminated stacked CMOS (BSI) sensor and a host of upgraded features including a new accelerated capture system that combines DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC Fast action like never before.

The EOS R5 Mark II also supports in-camera 8K DCI 60P RAW video recording and features the EOS Cinema System for producing professional-quality work in a variety of formats, including beautiful slow motion capture in 4K 120P (max. 5x delay) or Full HD 240P (max. 10x delay).

As for the video recording mode, there are also many features installed as follows:

  • Reduce rolling shutter distortion
  • External recording Apple ProRes RAW up to 8K and 30p
  • Support 24-bit, 4-channel linear PCM input
  • Heat dissipation structure
  • Optional cooling fan for longer recording in high definition
  • Latest wired/wireless communication protocols (Wi-Fi 6/6E and 2.5G Base-T wired LAN)
