When it comes to the museum that houses your work. Chihiro Iwasaki World-class literary photographer Toto-chan Fans might imagine the Chihiro Art Museum in Azumino, Japan, which has beautiful train cars that reproduce scenes from the book. But for those who focus on traveling in Tokyo we also have a place to receive Mr. Chihiro.

The Chihiro Museum of Art in Tokyo is Mr. Chihiro's first museum. It was built in the area that used to be her home. It is the first comic book museum in the world. I visited this museum for the first time in many years. When I returned to Japan again after a long break. So why not stop to reminisce about the past (and of course, go shopping for souvenirs of Mr. Chihiro's paintings which I can say are very cute).

This museum is located a little far from central Tokyo. You have to take the train to Kami-Igusa Station and then walk through the community area. It is recommended that you allow sufficient time such as traveling via Bangkok. Anyone going with friends is advised to find friends with the same interests. Otherwise, your friends might be confused about their whereabouts. Why did you leave Shibuya? As for me, I went alone, so it was very convenient.

A sign of Mr. Chihiro greeted us from the station. There are signs showing the way at regular intervals. The atmosphere on the road gives a real suburban feel if anyone likes to walk slowly and enjoy the atmosphere along the road. It is recommended to come during good weather as the walk will be very enjoyable.

When you arrive at the Chihiro Museum of Art in Tokyo, you will see a unique two-story red building. You can enter this building to purchase museum tickets.

In 2024, my visit will be the 50th anniversary of Mr. Chihiro's death. The museum is marking this special occasion with a new exhibition that brings together Chihiro's works and interprets them through three themes: “Play, Nature and Peace.” In April, when I visited the museum, there was an exhibition called “Life, Here and There.” I would like to invite the audience to think about: In the era when animals and trees gradually died out and disappeared from the world. How can we coexist with creatures other than humans?

The exhibition space is divided into two floors, which I walked slowly while opening Google Translate to read the concepts of the images that interested me. Chihiro's images often include children and nature, expressed through gentle watercolors. When you look at it, it invites you to be calm and gentle.

In addition to the area displaying paintings, the museum also has a replica of Mr. Chihiro's office and a beautiful garden for you to enjoy.

During my visit the museum also had a children's activity area where children could write messages about nature on paper in the shape of a mountain. Then place them in alternating colors to form a nice mountain range.

When you are walking around and looking at everything we advise you to take a break in the small café on the ground floor and taste the apple pie made with local apples, which is delicious and the packaging is really beautiful, and after that, continue shopping for souvenirs to your heart's content. From postcards with tape to glasses that take up space in your suitcase to take with you to Thailand.

I arrived at this suburban museum on a weekday afternoon. But I've seen many Japanese people stop by to admire Mr. Chihiro's work, including young children, parents, and even adults and grandmothers. It makes you think that people here really appreciate art learning activities (when I go to other museums in Tokyo they are always crowded, no wonder the creative arts thrive in Japan).

If anyone comes to Tokyo I have some time. He likes to look at art. Please stop by and visit Grandma Chihiro.
