An extraordinary event occurred at the BRICS summit when Chinese President Xi Jinping was left baffled after his aide was stopped by security personnel.
In a video clip circulating on social media, it appears that Mr. Jinping was walking towards the hall. When the Chinese president entered the hall, a man believed to be a Chinese security official started running to try to catch up with the president. Once he reached a place near Xi, a South African security official denied him entry because his movements aroused suspicion.
The Chinese president looked confused and looked back again and again, but the doors were already closed.

It is not clear what caused the confusion, as according to some reports, the security official was Xi Jinping’s official translator.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping were seen shaking hands and having a short conversation with each other on Thursday at the BRICS summit in the South African capital, Johannesburg.
Prior to the issuance of a joint statement to the 15th BRICS Summit by the leaders of the group, Prime Minister Modi and the Chinese Premier were seen walking and talking before taking their designated seats.
After the briefing, the two leaders were seen exchanging handshakes on stage.
Meanwhile, it was announced at the summit today that Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will join BRICS from January 2024.
