New Delhi:
Jacqueline Fernandez, a Bollywood actress who was named in a Rs 200 crore extortion case by the Enforcement Directorate, has received a series of expensive gifts from fraudster Sukesh Chandrashekar. The list included handbags, cars and diamonds.
Jacqueline Fernandez, who was an accused in the case, was confronted with Sukesh Chandrasekhar in October. Question number 10 in the minutes of the meeting – held by NDTV – goes like this.
Q10: Were any expensive gifts exchanged between you?
Jacqueline Fernandez: Received 4 bags from Gucci, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, three shoes from Louis Vuitton and Louboutin, clothes from Gucci, perfumes, four cats, Minnie Cooper, two diamond earrings and a multi-colored diamond bracelet.
Sources in the agency claimed that she received gifts worth Rs 10 crore, which also included a horse worth Rs 52,000 and a Persian cat worth Rs 9 lakh.
The two claimed that they only met twice in Chennai and that they had been in contact by phone for about six months. Jacqueline Fernandez said she spoke on the phone from February 2021 to August 2021. In Sukesh Chandrashekar’s version, the dates were from the end of January, 202 to August 202.
Sukesh Chandrashekar has been arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 215 crore from Aditi Singh and Shivinder Singh, former promoters of drug giant Ranbaxy.
The Enforcement Directorate alleged that he used illegal funds to purchase gifts for the actor.
In April, the Central Investigation Agency linked the actor’s money – worth Rs 7.27 crore – and Rs 15,000 in cash, calling it “proceeds of crime”.
