Before each season's F1 race cars can enter the field they must pass a crash test. This is a safety rule set by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) or FIA.
However, this has become an issue for those who curse Red Bull, the current Formula 1 industry powerhouse, to sing a bell when the RB20, the team's 2024 race car, fails its first crash test until Dr. Helmut arrives. Marko, the Red Bull consultant, had to give an interview in which he said, 'Don't be in a rush to be happy just yet.'
“It's funny that if we pass the test the first time, it's a problem. It means we did a terrible job.”
The significance of this interview is to say that if the crash test passed the first time, it means that the team did not push the design to its limits. And people in the speed industry know that if you don't try to reach the limit the chance of winning is very difficult, especially in Formula 1 which is home to the best minds in the world.
There is also another important example. This happened recently. Red Bull's RB19 race car from 2023 also failed its first crash test, but has gone on to become one of Formula 1's most successful cars. With victories in 21 of 22 real races throughout last season.
