Square Enix has announced that those who played Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS5 and PS4 will receive “special rewards” when playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Your saved data is tracked, and this is because the publisher does not transfer levels or abilities. As such, add-ons are just “a little something extra.”
Full quote from director Naoki Hamaguchi at PlayStation Blog It reads: “We have announced that the Final Fantasy VII Remake project will be a trilogy and that each entry will be a standalone game in its own right. For this reason, each game is balanced independently and will not carry over player levels and abilities” from game to game. However, we have created some special rewards for fans who played the previous game, allowing them to get started with a little something extra.”
