The suspect was charged after two rapes at Nanterre Hospital
Suspected of three rapes at the end of July, including two at a Nanterre hospital near Paris, one was charged and jailed on Saturday.
A man suspected of raping two patients at a Nanterre hospital in late July and then a woman two days later in another district of the city has been charged and jailed, according to the Nanterre prosecutor’s office requested by AFP.
The suspect, who was arrested on Friday and subsequently remanded in police custody at the Nanterre Judicial Police Complex, was charged by a trial judge on Saturday with raping a vulnerable person and raping a 15-year-old girl. Later in the evening he was taken to jail.
Thirty minutes interval
According to “Le Parisien” newspaper, which revealed his arrest, the 27-year-old man is Congolese and of no fixed address. He is suspected of raping two patients, aged 78 and 70, on the morning of July 27, thirty minutes apart, at Max-Forestier Hospital. Two days later, a 12-year-old girl in Zilina-Semin district.
Following the rapes, the Nanterre hospital assured AFP that it had taken “extra security measures”, notably “reinforced controls at the entrance to the hospital” and “frequent rounds by security agents”.
