The play took place in Brittany on Thursday evening. Two adults and a child were swept away by the wave.
Three members of the same family, parents and children were reportedly swept away by a wave while walking down a ditch early Thursday morning in Plogoff (Finistère).
Two adults, 55-year-old father and 33-year-old mother, were rescued in a cardiopulmonary resuscitation operation around 7:30 p.m., but rescuers were unable to resuscitate them, CEO David Folts told AFP. The lifeless body of a 12-year-old child was recovered after 10pm and the search was suspended. The other three children in the family, for their part, did not climb into the abyss, they are safe, but shocked.
The tragedy occurred at 6:40 pm, in Porsche-Lupes, an hour before the high tide. The sea in the area, a few kilometers from Pointe du Raz, was agitated by a strong swell, but the weather was not favorable, a spokesman for the Maritime Province said. Suddenly a wave washed 3 people ashore. “They were swept away at sea,” the chief of staff explained.
Witnesses immediately alerted emergency services and significant resources were used, especially the resources of three helicopters, as well as SNSM (Marine Rescue) and firefighters. According to David Folds, the family lived in Audrey, not far from there. He added that the trial would begin on Friday and witnesses would be questioned.
