When I want to use the S-pen and take it out, it always comes out disconnected and says “reconnect”. After about 30s he gives up and says unplugged. I have to put it back in, let it connect inside, and then it will connect and stay connected when I take it out. It stays connected for the next few tries, but after a while, if I want to use it and take it out, the same thing happens. I tried resetting the S-pen but it did nothing. The S Pen doesn’t plug in very often and has a slight chemical smell.” Reddit user HG1998
Exact same problem, it only connects about 25% of the time.” Reddit User AttemptsAtHumour
I have a problem with the notes being turned off on the screen, sometimes it doesn’t work with others, I have all the correct settings and I have to stop and restart the setting for it to work and sometimes it doesn’t work anyway, which is really frustrating because the notes that are off on the screen are One of the features I use the most.” Reddit user reuben-rbz
Two solutions are proposed to overcome the connection problem. One solution that seems to work for a lot of people is to enable the Keep S Pen connected toggle. This can be found by going to Settings, going to Advanced features, and then tapping on the S Pen. This will consume more battery, although the effect is unlikely to be significant.
You can also try resetting the S Pen by opening Settings, choosing Advanced features, going to the S Pen, and tapping on the three vertical dots at the top. This fix only seems to work temporarily, which means that connection issues may appear back up after a few hours.
This is likely to be a software issue and since online forums are filled with complaints about the problem, Samsung will likely address it soon.
