Borja Mayoral and striker Jaime Mata scored a goal each at the end of the first half and looked like they would win easily. But the visiting team of coach Rafael Benitez did not give up easily, as they recovered two consecutive goals scored by Jurgen Strand Larsen in the 71st minute and substitute Tadeo Allende in the 85th minute. The points had to be divided with just one minute before the end of the match. In time, Celta lost the ball in midfield until Greenwood picked up the ball on the left and crossed into the middle for Mata to score the second own goal. It was the ultimate goal of victory.
The victory at home also raised Getafe to tenth place in the Spanish League table with 33 points from 24 matches, while Celta is in 16th place, only three points behind Cádiz in the relegation zone.
