Android 13 is rolling out to Google Pixel phones now, but if you want to flash the update on your Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, or Pixel 6A, using the company’s custom Tensor chip, you won’t be able to go back to Android 12 due to a bootloader update, According to a notice on the Google developer site.
“Warning: Android 13 update for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a phones contains a bootloader update that increases the anti-rollback version,” the notice read. “After flashing Android 13 on these devices, you will not be able to update older Android 12 versions.”
Plus, if you’re in an Android 13 beta testing group and want to get out of the accelerated update cycle without wiping your device—usually a necessary step to get out of the queue—this is the time to do so. Once you have updated your phone to the latest Android version, just visit google beta site and cancel the registration. On the other hand, if you stay in the beta group, you will get early access to test future versions of Feature Drops for Android 13.
