Hamas Group Reveals Cease-Fire Extension Needs More Hostage Exchange After Ceasefire Reaches Final Day Israel’s Leader Says Prepare to Attack Gaza Once Ceasefire Ends
Foreign news agencies reported that on Sunday, November 26, 2023, Hamas issued a statement saying that it intends to extend the ceasefire further with serious efforts to free more hostages after the four-day ceasefire ends. As per the conditions mentioned in the contract
A senior Palestinian official close to ongoing talks in Gaza told BBC News that Hamas had told negotiators. They also said they wanted to extend the ceasefire by 2-4 days to allow the release of 20-40 hostages.
The preliminary agreement states that the ceasefire will be extended if Hamas releases at least 10 hostages per day.
The four-day ceasefire lasted until its final day on Monday, November 27, 2023. In the past three days, Hamas has released three hostages, for a total of 54, more than the 50 it had agreed to. Israel frees 117 Palestinian prisoners , far short of the agreed 150.
However, Israel has made it clear that the ceasefire will only be temporary. And they want to destroy Hamas completely. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told President Joe Biden by phone on Sunday that Israel would launch a full-scale military operation in Gaza once the cease-fire ends.
Meanwhile, CNN news agency quoted a source as saying that Israel’s war council has discussed the possibility of extending the temporary ceasefire with Hamas. A condition of the extension at Sunday evening’s meeting was that Hamas would release 10 more hostages for each additional day of fighting, according to the deal.
