Elisabeth Baume-Schneider traveled to Poland and Slovakia
Minister Jura visited several projects aimed at helping refugees and held bilateral talks with representatives of both governments.
Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider traveled to Poland and Slovakia on Wednesday and Thursday. The trip was “an excellent opportunity to understand the direct impact of Swiss funding”.
The Minister visited UNICEF programs aimed at helping Ukrainian children and their families. In an interview with Keystone-ATS, the minister described being “touched,” for example, by meeting people facing the disease. “War does not stop their lives.”
Projects concern the health sector, but also relate to education or integration. “The maximum number of children should be educated in regular structures.”
La Jurassien also had bilateral exchanges with representatives of the Polish and Slovak governments. While both countries had to welcome people from Ukraine en masse and urgently, he showed them “great respect”. “They have a different sense of what war means.”
