HONG KONG, February 21, 2020 (Xinhua) – Hong Kong's population is expected to rise in 2023 due to a net influx of residents, the Census and Statistics Bureau of southern China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region released on Tuesday (February 20).
The provisional estimate for Hong Kong's population is more than 7.5 million by the end of 2023, an increase of 0.4% from the end of 2022, with a net influx of 51,700 residents, including permit holders.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong saw 33,200 new births and 54,400 deaths, resulting in a natural decline of 21,200. A Hong Kong government spokesman said the population increased for the second year in a row since Hong Kong returned to normal.
