NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope Captured: Barred spiral galaxy, MCG+07-07-072. Located in the Perseus galaxy cluster. Also known as Abell 426 (Abell 426), it is a large cluster of galaxies. It is 320 million light-years away from Earth.
Astronomers say galaxy MCG+07-07-072 has a somewhat unusual shape compared to typical spiral or barred galaxies. It has thin spiral arms. They extend out from the end of the shaft, which is the radius, and circle the galaxy's disk of dust and gas. This galaxy is classified as an SBc(r) galaxy, where the c indicates that the spiral arms are loosely intertwined. Each arm only makes half a revolution around the galaxy, and the (r) refers to the ring-like structure formed by the spiral arms.
MCG+07-07-072 is a special galaxy that has received attention from the astronomy community. Because of its distinctive and striking appearance, some astronomy sites have compared it to MCG+07-07-072. It looks similar to a spaceship, the TIE fighter, a fighter craft in the Star Wars movies.
