Police in a New Jersey township are trying to figure out how hundreds of kilograms of pasta were illegally dumped in a wooded area in this New York suburb. The mystery comes from last week.

As local newspapers and the New York Times reported on it in recent days, a walker posted photos on Facebook of several piles of spaghetti, macaroni and shells in a small forest near a river in the town of Old Bridge.

“Equivalent to 15 wheelbarrows” or “several hundreds [kilogrammes] “The uncooked pasta was taken out of their packaging and thrown on the side of the stream,” a municipal official confirmed on Friday.

Municipal employees and police were dispatched to the scene after the images circulating on social media were recognized.

A state bordering New York, on the other side of the Hudson River, New Jersey is famous for hosting several communities of European descent, including Americans of Italian descent. Seventeen percent of its population claims Italian ancestry.

The pasta waste, which began to “mould” on the understory, was picked up within an hour, the municipality promised, pointing to a local police investigation.

Old Bridge, a town of 65,000 people, speculates about the existence of a restaurant or a giant order.
