It went viral when the TikTok account namobanchangtongdaengso0 appeared. The Namo Ban Chang Thong store in Saraburi province posted a video of a young woman from Nakhon Sawan province working on gilding Buddha statues. She brought scraps of gold leaf that fell from the gilded Buddha images and put them in jars to sell at the store.

In the video taken by the store, she was asked how long she had kept it. She said that this jar of gold leaf scraps had been collected for 10 years, and everyone laughed at her as she held a jar of gold leaf scraps to sell. Because there are usually people selling Buddha amulet frames.

The shop weighed the gold leaf into the jar. He filmed the entire process of melting the gold by mentioning the message in the clip, “By bringing the gold leaf to sell, everyone was shocked. How many baht will you get? Did you travel a long way from (Nakhon Sawan). This clip gives me knowledge and happiness. The shop is happy.”

In the clip, the gold shop weighs 165 grams of gold leaf and its bottle before starting the process of melting it into pure gold. It took 3 hours to melt until it turned out to be 82.7% gold bars weighing 33.86 grams, or about 2 baht of gold worth 66,983 baht.

The shopkeeper talked and explained the whole process of melting gold with the woman who brought scraps of gold leaf in bottles to sell. I asked her if she thought she would get a lot of gold and she said she would be happy to get a thousand baht.
