The Israeli army lost 24 soldiers in Gaza, the largest number of soldiers in one day since the start of the war. While Palestine reported 195 Gazans died during the past day of attacks.
Foreign news agencies reported that the Israeli army announced today, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, that it lost 24 soldiers on Monday. This is the largest loss of forces in one day since Israel launched its attack on Gaza in October last year. At the same time, the government is under intense pressure to find a way to end this conflict.
Israeli army spokesman Admiral Daniel Hagari said that 21 reservists were killed around 4:00 p.m. after Palestinian fighters fired RPG missiles at a tank and two buildings they were trying to destroy. Gaza's Ministry of Health and the Hamas-run movement said another 195 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the 24 hours to Tuesday. Many women and children were killed in the recent fighting in Khan Yunis. The total number of people killed in Gaza since the fighting began three months ago is 25,490.
The Palestinian Authority also said that there has been a siege and raid on Israeli hospitals since Monday and this is leaving aid workers unable to reach the wounded and dead. The deceased even had to be buried within the grounds of Nasser Hospital because leaving the area to travel to the cemetery was not safe.
