After her ex-boyfriend/tow truck driver (played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach) gets her car back, Lawrence Maddy—an unemployed Uber driver—discovers a Craigslist ad posted by two wealthy parents (Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti) looking for a woman to “date.” college-bound Percy in exchange for a new car; The definition of “history” is loosely coupled.
With her house also on the line, Maddie gets the job, only to find out that Percy is “not full”. What follows is a chain of events that slowly, over the course of the Red Band trailer, brings Percy out of his shell.
No hard feelingsDirected by Gene Stupnitsky and co-produced by Lawrence, it also stars Natalie Morales, Andrew Feldman, Hasan Minhaj, and Kyle Mooney. The comedy hits theaters June 23.
The film marks Lawrence’s first live-action comedy since her star-making role in 2010 Winter Bones; The actress got involved in the drama with comic elements (silver linings playbookAnd cheerful) and black comedy (do not searchAnd American extortion), but this is the first time Lawrence has asked to touch someone on screen.
