Kyrie Irving trade rumors: Nets want a winning player now in a potential deal, not just future assets, says report

With the NBA schedule released earlier this week and we’re all trying to figure out how the season will turn out, there’s an ominously and frustratingly glaring question looming over our predictions: What, let’s say, is Brooklyn Networks What will the menu look like on opening night?

Kevin Durant’s commercial demand doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon, and Kyrie Irving rumors have continued to fluctuate headlong across the NBA Twittersphere, usually with Los Angeles Lakers As a target destination for the keeper who seems to have lost his favourite with his current franchise.

A common potential trade includes Irving heading to the Lakers in exchange for a similarly boxed point guard, Russell Westbrook, as well as one or both of the Lakers’ available first-round picks (2027 and 2029). However, it looks like that won’t be enough to get the deal done.

Rather than just picks for future draft and/or young players, the Nets are looking for an established player who can bring an immediate benefit to the roster, According to NBA reporter Mark Stein:

Sources say the Nets’ current position is that they are unwilling to send Irving on a deal if the deal only returns future assets. They apparently want the winning talents now in exchange for giving up Irving, despite all the turmoil. that swept the nets for months.”

At this point in his career, Westbrook is widely seen as an expendable asset and might even be a takeover candidate after any potential deal – not someone you bring in to support your team.

Since the Lakers don’t really have a coveted player now outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, a third team will have to be brought in to facilitate Irving’s deal to Los Angeles if the Nets maintain their current position. Stein also notes that Brooklyn’s concept of Irving’s trade could waver if he is able to strike a deal for Durant that dramatically changes the makeup of the roster.

Brooklyn has been incredibly patient with Durant’s position, so there’s no reason to believe they’d accept anything less than their dream scenario for Irving…for now at least. Lakers, who only James signed a two-year extensionThey need to make major changes to their roster if they are to compete in what should be an incredibly strong Western Conference this season.

Irving appears to be a logical fit in LA given his ability to serve not only as a secondary playmaker but also to serve as a much-needed off-ball shooter alongside James and Davis. But for now, the Lakers simply don’t seem to have what the Nets would like for a player of Irving’s caliber.
